Bearing Isolators

ABET Distributing is an authorized supplier of Garlock and Protech metallic and nonmetallic isolators for flooded and non-flooded applications.

A bearing isolator is a bearing protection device designed with barriers to keep external fluid and airborne contaminants out of a bearing. Used in electric motor and pump applications, bearing isolators are designed to prevent premature bearing failure thus increasing equipment life, productivity and reducing total maintenance costs when installed properly on an electric motor shaft. Our staff can assist you in selecting the right bearing isolator for your specific application.

Garlock Bearing Isolators

A Garlock bearing isolator is a technology used primarily in rotating ancillary equipment—like pumps, gearboxes, electric motors, split pillow blocks, and even steam turbines. It prevents bearing failure by adding an extra layer of protection between the bearings and the outer environment.

The Garlock bearing isolator design is more effective than traditional lip seal technology at protecting bearings, Wong said. While a lip seal can provide a life expectancy of 6-12 months, a bearing isolator offers a life expectancy of 5 years or longer.

ProTech Bearing Isolators

ProTech Bearing Isolator Seals offer an answer for applications where improving the mean time between failure (MTBF) is critical. The ProTech family relies on true non-contact labyrinth seal technology to provide 100% exclusion of contaminants and 100% retention of bearing lubrication for the life of the bearing. Fourteen standard profiles are available to allow for ease of retrofitting most equipment.

Metallic ProTech Millennium® profiles are available in bronze, 302 SS, 304 SS, 316 SS, and carbon steel.

Typical size range is for shaft diameters from 0.492″ (12.5 mm) to 38″ (965 mm).

ProTech has also been independently tested to IEEE IP55, IP56, IP66 and IP69k.
